15 min - Introductions
15 min - Quick refresher/intro to how to use the Sphero and Pocketlabs and troubleshooting tips
15 min - Force and motion PBL challenge (dissecting the challenge- Know/Need to Know strategy)
15 min - STEM careers associated with the challenge and how to shift the challenge for your particular students' interests
60 min - mini-challenges that provide just in time learning
15 min- more lessons and ideas, questions/evaluations

The PBL challenge will be centered around students needing to provide materials to people trapped in different situations. The Sphero is the AI robotic device that the students must program to reach the trapped individuals. There will be three different cases/scenarios but the task will be the same for each scenario. The difference will be in the force needed to get the materials to survivors. The constraints will be a minimum mass of materials that the Sphero must carry, the minimum velocity that the Sphero must maintain, and a maximum velocity that the Sphero must maintain. Motion data will be collected through the use of Pocketlabs attached to the Spheros.

This PD is being provided through a generous PRISM grant through the Burroughs-Welcome Fund in partnership with The Science House through NC State University. The PD is FREE and space is limited. We are hoping we can hold this PD in person but if we are unable to hold it in person, we will distribute materials and continue virtually.
